A Gringo's miniguide
to Brazil
Brazil is a country that really does have everything
Rio de Janeiro
For those that enjoy the sea, the outdoors and hiking, Rio de Janeiro is one of the world’s most beautiful cities. Whether it’s hanging out over caipirinhas at a neighborhood bar, hiking its mountain trails or dancing samba in Lapa, Rio is a realm of the senses.
São Paulo
São Paulo is a tropical New York that has much to offer for the urbanites. You could spend a couple days eating at destination restaurants like the two Michelin-starred D.O.M, checking out art hubs like the São Paulo Museum of Art, people-watching in Ibirapuera park, or bouncing between late-night roaming parties.
Inhotim
For art lovers, don't miss taking a day trip to Inhotim — a massive modern art complex set within a botanical garden just an hour outside Belo Horizonte. The historical cities in Minas Gerais are an oportunity to time-travel and see wonderful views (and taste fantastic food!)
Jericoacoara
For surfers (and beach bums!), Jericoacoara ("Jeri") is a must-visit. Visiting in July or August means the calmer swimming lagoons are filled to the brim. Ceará is the home of the bride's family and we can safely say (with no bias whatsoever) it boasts the best beaches and most delicious food in Brazil. The sand beaches are bathed by the warm Atlantic and you can enjoy it with coconut water, a cold beer, or both!
